Equipment

  • Mug or heat-proof glass
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 inch fresh ginger: peeled and grated or thinly sliced
  • Juice of 1/2 fresh lemon
  • Pinch of Himalayan pink salt: About 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon raw honey or maple syrup

Instructions

  • Prep your ginger: Peel and grate or thinly slice your 1-inch piece of fresh ginger.
  • Combine in a mug: Place the grated or sliced ginger, the juice of 1/2 a fresh lemon, and a pinch of Himalayan pink salt into your favorite mug or glass.
  • Add warm water: Pour 1 cup of warm water over the ingredients.
  • Stir well: Stir thoroughly with a spoon until the salt is dissolved.
  • Add sweetener (optional): If you're using honey or maple syrup, stir it in now until it dissolves.
  • Sip and enjoy: Drink it warm right away.

Notes

  • Adjust ginger, lemon, and salt to personal taste; start with suggested amounts and increase as preferred.
  • While fresh ingredients are ideal, 1/4 teaspoon of powdered ginger can be substituted.
  • This drink is best consumed warm and fresh, but ginger-infused water can be prepped and stored for up to 2-3 days in the refrigerator.
  • Consistency is key for benefits.
  • This tonic supports the body's natural processes rather than providing a harsh 'detox'.
